Matteo grew up in the Ottawa South United system in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada. He was invited to Canada u-15 camps and identified by the Vancouver Whitecaps of MLS where he spent his youth career from 2014-2020. He signed his first professional contract with Atlético Ottawa at just 18 years old. Matteo attended the University of Carleton in the fall of 2021 where he finished the season with 8 goals, 4 assists and earning OUA East Rookie of the Year. His performance earned him the opportunity to forego the CPL x Usports draft in order to sign a professional contract with Valour FC. Matteo had a breakout season in 2023 with Valour where he was awarded top u21 player in the CPL. Matteo signed with his hometown club Atletico Ottawa for the 2024 season. Ahead of the 2025 season, Matteo was sold to GAIS of the Swedish Allsvenskan where he signed a 5-year contract.
